Preheat oven to 350°.
Cream shorting, butter and sugar for 4 minutes.
Add egg and mix in well.
Then add pumpkin puree and vanilla.
Put all dry ingredients in a bowl and mix.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture.
When the dry ingredients are almost mixed in, add the chocolate chips and mix with a spoon.
Grease cookie trays and place 12 cookies on each.
Bake for 11-13 minutes.
