Everyone makes muddy buddies with Chex cereal, but what about Cinnamon Cherry Maple Apple Chex Mix? This is so delicious! This little snack food is full of all the ingredients in the title, Cinnamon, Cherries, Maple Syrup, Apple Chips, Corn Chex Cereal. Then you add butter, brown sugar, pecans, walnuts and vanilla. That’s it! The best part, is when you toast the cereal.
I love apples and cherries, but add some brown sugar with butter and a little cinnamon then everything goes to the next level. If you are looking for a little treat while watching the Olympics, this is a Gold Medal addition to any watch party.

How to Make Cinnamon Cherry Maple Apple Chex Mix
1. This recipe makes a huge bowl of treats. You can always divide the recipe in half or once you have mixed everything together, divide it up and put it into cute bags and give it away to neighbors. Also, Cinnamon Cherry Maple Apple Chex Mix is a great treat to make at the holidays to give away to all the people who give you zucchini and tomatoes during the summer months.
2. Pour the cereal in a large bowl.

3. Heat up the butter, cinnamon, maple syrup, granulated sugar and brown sugar in the microwave until the butter is melted. Add the vanilla and salt. Using a wire whisk or a quick fork, mix this together until the butter is well incorporated.
4. Preheat the oven to 350°.

5. Chop or break apart the walnuts and pecans. Using your fingers, break each nut in half or in fourths. You can also chop them with a knife, but I love the organic shapes they make when you break them apart with your hands. It seriously only takes about 1-2 minutes longer than chopping them. There was a lonely bottle of praline pecans from Costco on my pantry shelf. I used those when I made this.
6. Pour the sugar, butter and maple syrup mixture over the cereal. Add the chopped nuts to this mixture and then use a large spoon to stir everything together until all the cereal is well coated with the butter and sugar mixture. Spoon this mixture onto a large baking sheet with an edge. Place in a 350° oven and bake for 40 minutes.
7. Every 10 minutes, using a large spatula, turn the cereal over. Keep turning until all the cereal on the bottom is now on the top. Do this again four more times. After 40 minutes, the cereal should be nice and toasted and crunchy. Take it out of the oven and let it come to room temperature.
You Can Find Apple Chips in the Produce Section of Your Grocery Store.
8. Finding apple chips in the grocery store can be a problem. Apple Chips are in bags like potato chips. They are in the produce section next to the apples. You will find 2.5 oz bags of them. When you open the bag, you will find that the chips are large and look a lot like potato chips. I wanted smaller chips, so I crushed them in the bag with my hands until they reached the consistency I like. They need to be large enough to pick up with your fingers, but small enough to put in your mouth with everything else.
9. Mix in the cherries and apples into the cooled Chex mix and serve. Remember this recipe makes a huge batch that fills up the cookie sheet. If you do not want that much, divide the recipe in half.
